Love Me Beauty & Phase Zero.. What happened??

For those of you who don’t know, Love Me Beauty used to be a monthly subscription service. The monthly amount that you paid entitled you to 60 credits to use in their monthly edit.If you wanted a rolling month on month subscription it was £13.95 including P&P ( I believe, correct me if I am wrong). I purchased the 6 monthly subscription so I only paid £11.95. On 1st of each month your money was taken and on 2nd of each month they released the new edit. The products ranged from low credit items at 5 or 10 credits per product, up to 120 credits for some of the higher end products. You also had the option to pay a little extra and buy extra credits to get more products or to get that high end product that always sold out fast. They had a limited amount of the more sought after products so you had to get in there first on 2nd of each month to get the better stuff.
I joined in February 2017 and I was very happy with my subscription. We the received am email at the beginning of the year letting all members know if this amazing revamp to Love Me Beauty. We were told that there would no longer be an edit, and that Love Me Beauty were moving in to the world of makeup. The brand they were introduction was called Phase Zero and it was supposed to be a brand that would change my makeup game forever.
If you were an existing member, you would still have your regular payment deducted each month, however this would now be added to a wallet that you could use towards purchasing the new range of products at factory prices. Any new members as of February 2018 would have to sign up for a minimum of 3 months and pay £5 per month for access to the products. The first month they had decided to release all lip products.
Initially I was quite excited, I love makeup and to be able to purchase makeup at factory prices was every makeup lovers dream!!.. but it slowly went down hill for me.
In the first month the products were shipped late and the communication regarding the status of my order was poor. When the products were launched ( after being delayed) I placed my order and received the standard email stating my products would be delivered within 5-7 working days. My order arrived late, however as it was a new launch I kind of expected a few glitches to start with. When i finally received the products I have purchased I was very happy with them.

I cannot fault these products. both the lip glass and the matte liquid lip applied perfectly and were very comfortable to wear. The member price for each lip product was £3.50 ( RRP £12.00) and for the build your own palette I paid £4.80 ( RRP £10.80).

March rolls around and this month they released their eyeshadows. I had seen a few sneak peaks on their instagram and I was looking forward to receiving them. My first email , again was the standard one that stated my order would arrive within 5-7 working days. WE pass the 7th working day and I contacted Love Me Beauty. I was told that the items were pre-orders and would be shipped on or around 15th of the month. on March 19th I received an email stating my order would arrive within 3-5 working days and it finally arrived on 28th March.

I did not have 12 shadows to fit inside the palette but when i tried to line 4 of them in a row it was a very tight squeeze and the only just fit if I pushed them in tight. The palette was designed for those shadows to fit in so I didn’t expect it to be so difficult to get them to fit.
For me the eyeshadows were disappointing and this was the reason I cancelled my subscription. The pigmentation on the eyeshadows is actually pretty decent ( on some of them) , however the are very powdery. Velvet was the best from the ones I received and I do still use that shade regularly.

Another thing that put me off was the pricing of the products. Full price for a lip product was £12.00, eyeshadows were £5.80 and the new liquid eyeshadows are £12.50. This is for a new brand to market ( as far as I know) and personally I feel to come in with those prices is a bit steep, especially when well known brands such as Makeup Geek provide the same eye shadow pan size for £4.95 (unless you buy their foiled shadows). The pigmentation is second to none and they blend like a dream. You can buy them from Beauty Bay and have them delivered to your door next day. I can go in to Superdrug and buy an MUA Velvet Lip Laquer for £3.00 and they are amazing.
When it comes down to it we all want value for money and when I sat down and thought about it, for me, these products were just not worth the money. There are other brands out there that are more well known that provide similar products for the same price or lower and the quality of their products is just that bit better.
Now I have seen so many mixed reviews about these products and I just want to say that these opinions are my own and if you love these products then that’s fab. I just didn’t feel that it was worth the money for me personally. Please don’t heckle me if my opinion differs from yours.

I would like to know what you guys think?

Are you a fan? Do you Think you get value for money?

MOVIE REVIEW: Thor: Ragnarok

We are back after a long break (long story , which I will go in to at another time) with a review of another Epic Marvel Creation.
We have got used to Marvel and DC Movies and we all know that they have not all been the hits we hoped they would be. It is so easy to go so wrong with these films and casting the right people for the part is a HUGE part of getting it right!
I probably watched this in the wrong order but this was the first Thor film I had seen and I was excited to see if Marvel Studios had pulled it out of the bag! I am always nervous about watching any marvel or DC Film, but I had read reviews for Thor and Thor: Dark World I was sure that this would also be a hit.
I can honestly say I LOVED IT! Not only were the special effects outstanding but the banter between the characters and the quirky personalities of each character also made it really funny.
Plot
Ragnarok is the third Thor film and it starts with Thor, in a cage, talking to a skeleton.. Yes.. Strange I know! He has been imprisoned by the fire Demon Surtur, who reveals that Odin is no longer on Asgard and that the realm will be destroyed by Ragnarok once he has access to the Eternal Flame that is locked away in Odin’s vault.
Thor travels back to Asgard to find that his brother Loki (who he thought was dead) was ruling Asgard disguised as Odin and he has left his father stranded on Earth in a Mental Institution.

The story really begins when Thor drags Loki to Earth to bring his father back to Asgard. Odin tells the brothers that they have a sister, and now that his life is coming to an end Hela, Goddess of Death is coming for the throne… Dun Dun Duuuuuuun….
Characters

As for characters where do I start? The Marvel films are quickly becoming some of my favourite films and a huge part of this is down to the characters and how well they are played. Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston are back as Thor and Loki! Anthony Hopkins is back as Odin. If that wasn’t enough Mark Ruffalo is back as The Hulk. I don’t know why but I feel that Ruffalo’s acting ability is not fully appreciated. He can play Bruce Banner , the logical, eratic, timid genius and then he transforms in to the complete opposite when he transforms in to the Hulk. The thing that I admire about him is that although The Hulk is a big green monster, in some scenes, you can still see hints of Bruce Banner in there and I just love The Hulks personality!

Idris Elba is also back again as Heimdall, the all-seeing , all-hearing Asgardian. He plays more of a part in this film, which I am all for!! Three Great British male actors in one film!! Makes me proud to be a Brit.

eNow, the fab cast doesn’t stop there. WE have some new additions to the cast starting with Hela, played by Cate Blanchett. The Goddess of Death arrives in a cloud of black and doesn’t disappoint. She has a fierce look and the attitude to go with it!! I know she is a villain but I can help but like her. Benedict Cumberbath makes an appearance as Doctor Strange.

Tessa Thompson is one of the good guys. She plays Scrapper 142, a Sassy former Asgardian Valkyrie who is trying to forget her past by drinking ,her days away on planet Sakaar working for The Grandmaster who rules the planet. Speaking of The Grandmaster. Jeff Goldblum plays the manipulative ruler of Sakaar. He is a great addition to the cast and definitely brings a light hearted aspect to the film.

My favourite new character is Korg, a semi humanoid Alien  played by Director Taika Waikiti. I would probably go as far as to say he is my favourite character of the film. If you have seen it then you should know why!!! He is funny without even trying to be and me and my partner find ourselves laughing out loud at him.

final thoughts.jpg

I can’t help but love this film! I was not let down my the storyline, acting or special effects. 10’s 10’s 10’s across the board ( if you get that reference comment below where it is from). I would recommend this film to any action film buffs, Marvel lovers and just anybody that loves a bit of light entertainment with some fighting thrown in.

NETFLIX SHOW REVIEW: GIRLBOSS

Well guys, you know me. I have a Netflix addiction and I can never watch “just one” episode of a show, To binge or not to binge, that is always the question. The answer is always to binge watch! It is just not in me to go slow. I am an or or nothing kinda girl haha.

(WARNING: strong language used in the trailer)

As always, when this show came up on my recommended list as a new show I was very much on the fence about spending my time watching it. I don’t know why it is but even if a show is totally awful I still end up watching it until the end (mostly) just because I have that voice in my head saying “it has to get better”. I read a few reviews, which were very hit and miss. Again I have no idea why i spend my time reading the reviews because I never pay attention to them. I feel like I just like to see how other people write reviews. There is always a mix of styles and I feel like they are just fun to read.

Anyway, back to Girlboss. I will start off by saying that  this is an adult show, however if you are not a fan of curse words this will not be your cup of tea. Personally, I don’t mind them as long as they are not over-used and I feel like Girlboss is just about okay on that front for me.

Girlboss is loosely based on the autobiography of Sophia Amoruso, who coined the term Girlboss. It follows the ups and downs of a 23 year old called Sophia Marlowe(Britt Robertson), who is a bit lost. She starts of work in a shop, however she has the kind of attitude you would hate from an employee. She is rude, lazy, does what the hell she wants, including eating her boss’s lunch, turning up late and ignoring customers. It comes as no surprise that she gets fired from her job and she has to asses what she wants to do next. She buys a vintage leather jacket from a thrift shop for $9 and sells it for $600 and comes up with the idea to open an Ebay store and sell vintage clothes online.

Sophia’s best friend Annie (Ellie Reed) seems to be the only person she is close to as her mother left when she was younger and she has a strained relationship with her father. Throughout the first season she has a love interest called Shane(Johnny Simmons), who lives with Dax (Alphonso McAuley) , who also happens to be Annie’s boyfriend.

Now if you are looking for likeable heroine, who goes from rags to riches in a typical cliché style then this is not the show for you, however if you are looking for a kick ass main character with substance, attitude and someone you love to hate, hate to love and secretly route for then this is a show you do not want to miss.

This ain’t no sugar coated fairytale and I love it. It is a raw, laugh out loud funny, gut wrenchingly sad, hit your head against a wall frustrating, emotional roller coaster of a show in just 13 episodes and I would sit and binge watch it all over again.

Robertson plays the role so well. It fits her like a glove and the chemistry between all the main characters seems real. I have never seen somebody play a character that you want to slap but also route for her to succeed at the same time.  I don’t want to give too much away so I will leave it there but if you are looking for something a bit different then I recommend Girlboss.

This is a one of a kind show that I can honestly say I love so Girlboss gets a 5 out of from from this Misfit.
